How Buying Direct Works, Step by Step
Step 1: Figure out the right size
Size matters more than brand. A system that's too big short-cycles and leaves the house clammy. One that's too small runs constantly. Read our AC sizing guide, then have a licensed contractor run a Manual J load calculation. If you're replacing a system that worked well, its tonnage is a reasonable starting point, but confirm it.
Step 2: Choose your system
- Central, ducted home? Choose an inverter heat pump split system (2–5 ton, R454B, 17.0–20.0 SEER2 depending on size). A system is a matched outdoor condenser and indoor air handler.
- Room, addition, garage or Florida room? Choose a ductless mini-split (1–2 ton, R32, 17.0 SEER2).
- Need a straight-cool system or a package unit? 14.3 SEER2 straight-cool and heat pump systems and 15 SEER2 package units are coming soon.

Step 3: Order online or by phone
Check out on our site or call us. Shipping is free to the lower 48 states, and we ship anywhere in the US.
Step 4: Get it installed by a licensed pro
Two options:
- Use a BulletProof dealer. Request a referral and we'll connect you with a local contractor who knows our equipment.
- Hire your own. Any licensed HVAC contractor can install BulletProof AC. Install manuals and spec sheets are public on our resources page.
Installing a split system or mini-split requires an EPA Section 608-certified technician, and most areas also require a licensed contractor and a permit. This isn't a DIY job.
Step 5: You're covered automatically
The warranty is 10 years on parts residential and 5 years commercial for split systems and package units, and 5 years on parts for mini-splits, residential or commercial. You don't have to register anything, and the warranty transfers if you sell. Keep your receipt and your installer's invoice. See the warranty.
Why Buy Your AC System Direct?
-
You see what the equipment actually costs
A typical replacement quote rolls equipment, labor and markup into one number. When you buy direct, the equipment price is published and your installer quotes labor and materials separately. You can compare apples to apples, and you usually keep a lot more money.
-
Better equipment for the money
Inverter compressors, gold-coated anti-corrosion coils and parts built for harsh climates. See how we build for heat, humidity and salt air.
-
A warranty that works for you
There's no registration deadline to miss, and the coverage doesn't disappear when the house changes hands.
-
A real company behind it
We have a 32,000 sq ft distribution facility in Bradenton, Florida, and real people on the phone.

- Will you do a Manual J load calculation?
- Have you installed R454B (A2L) equipment? (Mini-splits use R32, also A2L.)
- Can my existing line set be reused, or should it be replaced?
- What labor warranty do you offer?

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to buy an AC unit online?
Yes, if you buy a matched, AHRI-certified system from a real company, have it installed by a licensed HVAC contractor, and get a warranty that doesn't depend on fine print. BulletProof AC checks every box: AHRI-certified systems, a Bradenton, FL distribution facility, a phone that gets answered, and a parts warranty of 10 years residential / 5 years commercial on split systems and package units (5 years on mini-splits) with no registration required.
Can I install the AC system myself?
No. Installing a split system or mini-split means connecting refrigerant lines and charging or releasing refrigerant. Federal EPA rules require a Section 608-certified technician for that work, and most areas require a licensed contractor and a permit. Use a licensed HVAC contractor.
Do I have to use one of your dealers?
No. We're happy to refer you to a local BulletProof dealer, but you can hire any licensed HVAC contractor you trust.
How much does shipping cost?
Nothing to the lower 48 states. Shipping is included in the price. We also ship to Alaska, Hawaii and the rest of the US. See Shipping & Returns for details.
Why don't contractors and homeowners pay the same price?
Licensed contractors who open a verified account buy at contractor pricing, the same way they buy from any distributor. Homeowner pricing is a published retail price, and it's still built to save you money compared with a typical bundled quote.
